NOTE – IMPORTANT CHANGES
As of July 1, 2025, the mLegitymacja (mobile student ID) is available in the mObywatel app as a fully valid form of student identification.
Starting October 1 of this year, newly admitted students can activate the mLegitymacja in the mObywatel app using a code generated in USOSweb.
The Electronic Student ID (ELS) in the form of a plastic card is an optional document.
You can add the mLegitymacja to the mObywatel app using a code generated in USOSweb.
You can still obtain the ELS card by submitting an application and paying the PLN 22.00 fee via USOSweb.
This applies particularly to students who do not have a PESEL number.
You can collect your ELS card from your Dean's Office after October 1 of this year, once its status changes to "active." You can check the ELS status in eStudent.
Existing IDs—both mobile and physical—remain valid until the completion of your studies, provided they are renewed at the Dean's Office.
You may use your student ID until the date of: graduation, suspension of student rights, or removal from the student register.
Note! If you are a first-cycle (Bachelor's level) graduate, the ID remains valid until October 31 of the year you completed those studies. The mLegitymacja functions just like the traditional document and contains identical data. The mobile version of the ID is an additional document that operates alongside the traditional electronic student ID, which remains valid. You can prove your eligibility for applicable discounts and exemptions by displaying your ID card on your phone screen. An official verifying your identity using the mWeryfikator app can confirm your full name, view your photo, and check the ID's validity.
How do I add my student ID to the mObywatel app?
- After October 1st, generate an activation code in USOSweb.
- Download the mObywatel 2.0 app from Google Play or the App Store.

A few more words about the ELS.
The Electronic Student ID Card (ELS) is issued upon a student's request.
It is a physical plastic card containing the student's details and photograph.
New ELS design
As of July 13, 2026, Electronic Student ID Cards are issued according to a new design specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education dated May 8, 2026. The new design incorporates additional security features required for public documents, including security elements within the card substrate and print, as well as unique card identifiers.
There is no need to replace previously issued ID cards. ELS cards issued prior to the introduction of the new design remain valid until the completion of studies, suspension of student rights, or removal from the student register; in the case of completing first-cycle studies, they remain valid until October 31 of the year of completion.
The ELS is issued to:
- students who submit an application for its issuance,
- students who do not hold a PESEL number.
Note! If you are already a student at Poznan University of Technology, hold a valid student ID card, and are beginning a second field of study, there is no need to obtain another ID card. You may continue to use your existing document.
How do I obtain one?
To receive an Electronic Student ID Card (ELS), you must meet the following conditions:
- Submit an application for the ELS;
- Pay the fee of PLN 22.00;
- Acquire student status, which is granted upon taking the oath via the Rekrutacja.
The bank account number for the transfer is generated individually for each student after logging into the USOSweb system, under the "FOR EVERYONE" (DLA WSZYSTKICH) tab.
You must validate your electronic student ID (ELS) every semester by affixing a hologram in the designated space on the card. You can obtain the hologram from your Dean's Office.
What should you do if your student ID (ELS) is lost, stolen, or damaged?
- If you hold an mLegitymacja (mobile student ID), there is no need to visit the Dean's Office to order a new card. The mLegitymacja is a fully valid document treated on par with the physical ELS card.
- If you hold a physical student ID (plastic card), you should:
- submit a request for a duplicate ID via USOSweb and pay the duplicate issuance fee of PLN 33.00;
- collect the duplicate ELS from the Dean's Office once its status changes to "active."
Need help?
If you encounter problems generating an activation code, ordering an ELS, obtaining a duplicate, activating the PPcard, or verifying document status, please contact the Dean's Office.
